Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, is still scheduled to appear before a UK court on September 15, 2026, as prosecutors confirm that the legal proceedings against him remain active.
The latest development comes after reports circulated online suggesting that the entertainer had been released and that the case could have been withdrawn or settled.
However, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has confirmed that the case remains live and that Odinaka is still listed to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on September 15 for a Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing (PTPH).
Prosecutors confirm September 15 hearing
The CPS Press Office confirmed the status of the case following an inquiry by PUNCH Online.
According to the prosecution service, Odinaka remains scheduled for the September 15 hearing, which is expected to deal with his plea and preparations for any subsequent trial.
The hearing date had previously been confirmed by Snaresbrook Crown Court. Court officials stated that the case was formally listed for plea and trial preparation on September 15, although precise courtroom and timing information was not initially available.
Reports of release remain unconfirmed
The latest clarification follows social media reports claiming that Poco Lee had been released and that the complainant had withdrawn from the case.
The CPS confirmed that the proceedings remain active but did not confirm reports about Odinaka’s current custody or bail status. PUNCH also reported that an inquiry had been made to Snaresbrook Crown Court seeking clarification on his current status.
As a result, claims circulating online about a release, withdrawal of the case or an out of court settlement should not be treated as confirmed information.
Charges were previously confirmed by the court
Snaresbrook Crown Court previously confirmed that Odinaka faces five sexual offence charges in connection with the case.
PUNCH reported that the charges are one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration. The court also confirmed that a reporting restriction has been imposed to protect the complainant’s anonymity under UK law.
Pulse Nigeria likewise reported the five charges and the September 15 hearing date, while noting that Odinaka remains legally presumed innocent unless and until the court determines otherwise.
How the case reached court
Reports of Odinaka’s detention emerged in August after he travelled to the United Kingdom.
PUNCH reported that he had been in the UK for the Davido and Friends event at Crystal Palace Bowl in London on August 14, 2026. His subsequent legal situation attracted widespread attention across Nigerian entertainment and social media circles.
The case has since progressed through the UK court system, with publicly available court records showing appearances involving Odinaka at Snaresbrook Crown Court earlier in September.
Management urges restraint
Poco Lee’s management and legal team have previously urged the public and media to exercise restraint when discussing the case.
The team also addressed some claims circulating online, stressing that certain narratives being shared publicly did not form part of the charges before the court.
